The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
