The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And all defilement shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He looked (at others); 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
