The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
