The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
