The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
