The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
