They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If We pleased, We would certainly take away that which We have revealed to you, then you would find no guardian for you against Us, 86 except for Mercy from your Lord; for His favor to you is great indeed. 87 Say: 'If mankind and jinn combined together to produce the like of this Koran, they would never be able to produce one like it, not even if they were to help one another' 88 And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude! 89 They said: "We shall not accept your Message until you cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth; 90 Or, until you acquire an orchard of date-palm trees and grapes, and produce rivers flowing through it; 91 Or thou causest the heaven to fall upon us, as thou assertest, in pieces, or thou bringest God and the angels face to face. 92 Or thou have a house of gold; or thou ascend up into heaven, and even then we will put no faith in thine ascension till thou bring down for us a book that we can read. Say (O Muhammad): My Lord be Glorified! Am I aught save a mortal messenger? 93
