And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment. 41 (And it was said unto him): Strike the ground with thy foot. This (spring) is a cool bath and a refreshing drink. 42 We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. -- 43 [And finally We told him:] "Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike therewith, and thou wilt not break thine oath!" for, verily, We found him full of patience in adversity: how excellent a servant [of Ours,] who, behold, would always turn unto Us! 44 Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. 45 We indeed gave them distinction with a genuine affair – the remembrance of the (everlasting) abode. 46 And behold, in Our sight they were indeed among the elect, the truly good! 47 And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen. 48 This is a Reminder, and indeed for the cautious is a fine return, 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are opened for them, 50 Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein. 51 ۞ with them, they will have pure, modest women of an equal age. 52 This is what they had been promised for the Day of Judgment. 53 Our provision for you will never be exhausted. 54 All this; but for the insolent awaits an ill resort, 55 Gehenna, wherein they are roasted - an evil cradling! 56 This is so! Then let them taste it, a boiling fluid and dirty wound discharges. 57 and other such torments. 58 'This is a troop rushing in with you; there is no Welcome for them; they shall roast in the Fire.' 59 [And] they [who had been seduced] will exclaim: "Nay, but it is you! No welcome to you! It is you who have prepared this for us: and how vile a state to abide in!" 60 [And] they will pray: "O our Sustainer! Whoever has prepared this for us, double Thou his suffering in the fire!" 61 And they will say, "How is it that we do not see [here any of the] men whom we used to count among the wicked, 62 Did we laugh at them (for nothing), or our eyes fail to pick them out?" 63 That most surely is the truth: the contending one with another of the inmates of the fire. 64
