Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And ye cannot frustrate His punishment in the earth; and there is for you beside Allah neither protector nor helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves, 39 The retribution of evil is the equal of evil (done); yet those who forgive and rehabilitate will be rewarded by God. Verily He does not like those who do wrong. 40 Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy. 43
