When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we then be raised again? 47 and perhaps, too, our forebears of old?" 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 “We have been penalised; 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74
