Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 who will be in Paradise 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
