The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
