The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
