And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
