Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But the people divided their religion among them into sects - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth (about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ Even if We were to grant them mercy and rescue them from hardship, they would still blindly persist in their rebellion. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
