Ha Mim. 1 The revelation of the Book (this Quran) is from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 2 Verily, in the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers. 3 And in your creation, and all the beasts that He scattereth in the earth, are portents for a folk whose faith is sure. 4 And [in] the alternation of night and day and [in] what Allah sends down from the sky of provision and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and [in His] directing of the winds are signs for a people who reason. 5 These are the revelations of Allah which We rehearse unto thee with truth: in what discourse then, after Allah and His revelations, will they believe? 6 Woe to every sinful liar, 7 who hears Allah's Signs being rehearsed to him, and yet persists in his pride, as though he had not heard it. Announce to him, then, the tidings of a grievous chastisement. 8 When he learns about some of Our revelations, he mocks them. Such people will suffer a humiliating torment. 9 There is Hell before them; and whatever they have earned will not avail them in the least, nor those whom they take as friends apart from God. There is great chastisement for them. 10 This is the true guidance; and for those who disbelieve in the verses of their Lord is the severest of painful punishments. 11
