Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton. 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
