The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He has created man: 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
