The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
