Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more. 147 And they believed, therefor We gave them comfort for a while. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 we are the rangers, 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 They used to say before: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 that it is certainly they who will be helped; 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
