The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
