Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
