The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
