۞ Your Lord has commanded that you should worship none but Him, and show kindness to your parents. If either or both of them attain old age with you, say no word of contempt to them and do not rebuke them, but always speak gently to them 23 and be humble and tender to them and say: "Lord, show mercy to them as they nurtured me when I was small." 24 Your Lord knows very well what is in your hearts. If you are good, He is forgiving to those who are penitent. 25 Give to the near of kin, the needy and the destitute traveler their rights and do not squander, 26 Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful. 27 If you are not able to assist them, at least speak to them in a kind manner. 28 And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent. 29 Truly, your Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens (for whom He wills). Verily, He is Ever All-Knower, All-Seer of His slaves. 30
