Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim 1 By the Clear Book. 2 that We sent down during a Blessed Night. We are ever warning. 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and makes to die; your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 In fact, the unbelievers have doubts because of excessive involvement in worldly affairs. 9 Therefore keep waiting for the day when the heaven shall bring an evident smoke, 10 Covering the people, this shall be a torment afflictive. 11 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 and they turned away, saying, "He is a trained and insane person". 14 Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust; 18 And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. 19 and, behold, it is with my Sustainer - and your Sustainer - that I seek refuge against all your endeavours to revile me. 20 If you do not believe in me, at least keep away from me." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: “These are a criminal people.” 22 (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How much they left behind of gardens and springs 25 and sown fields, fine sitting places, 26 And goodly things wherein they rejoiced; 27 Thus it was; and We made another people inherit all that. 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
