And certainly Haroun had said to them before: O my people! you are only tried by it, and surely your Lord is the Beneficent Allah, therefore follow me and obey my order. 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 Musa said: O Harun! what prevented thee, when thou sawest them going astray. 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri? 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 Said [Moses]; "Begone, then! And behold, it shall be thy lot to say throughout [thy] life, 'Touch me not! But, verily, [in the life to come] thou shalt be faced with a destiny from which there will be no escape! And [now] look at this deity of thine to whose worship thou hast become so devoted: we shall most certainly burn it, and then scatter [whatever remains of] it far and wide over the sea! 97 Your god is only God. There is no other god but He. His knowledge extends over everything." 98 So We relate to thee stories of what has gone before, and We have given thee a remembrance from Us. 99 He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 which they shall bear forever. It will be a grievous burden for them on the Day of Judgement, 101 The Day when the Trumpet will be sounded: that Day, We shall gather the sinful, blear-eyed (with terror). 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know best what they say, when the fairest of them in course would say: You tarried but a day. 104
