۞ And when the example of the son of Maryam is given, your people laugh at it! 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 Jesus was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 Let satan not prevent you from the right path. He is your sworn enemy". 62 And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allah and obey me. 63 "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah's religion of true Islamic Monotheism)." 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 On that Day, friends will become each other's enemies, except the righteous -- 67
