The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
