The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
