The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
