The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
