Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion. 44
