The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
