The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
