He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
