Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
