۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said: 'Is it the truth you have brought us, or are you one of those that play' 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
