By the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
