The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
