The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
