The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
