The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
