Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU enwrapped one! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
