The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
