The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
