The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount; 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
