Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Or is it that they have access to (the Truths in) the realm beyond sense-perception which they are writing down? 41 Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),- 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not. 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
