۞ Your Lord has decreed: (i) Do not worship any but Him; (ii) Be good to your parents; and should both or any one of them attain old age with you, do not say to them even "fie" neither chide them, but speak to them with respect, 23 And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little. 24 Your Lord knows best what is in your inner-selves. If you are righteous, then, verily, He is Ever Most Forgiving to those who turn unto Him again and again in obedience, and in repentance. 25 And give his due to the near of kin, as well as to the needy and the wayfarer, but do not squander [thy substance] senselessly. 26 the squanderers are brothers of Satan, and Satan is unthankful to his Lord. 27 And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word. 28 (vi) Do not keep your hand fastened to your neck nor outspread it, altogether outspread, for you will be left sitting rebuked, destitute. 29 Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and regard all His servants. 30
