This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
