The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
